About Als Leather Craft LTd.

Als Leather Craft traces its origins to 1966, when Allan Scheiderer finished his first leather project-- a simple kit from Tandy Leather (pictured left). Allan became a highly recognized leather artisan among his peers, excelling in all aspects of leather work, but was best-known for his original and imaginative stamping patterns.  His work regularly placed well in competitions held by the International Federation of Leather Guilds (IFoLG), eventually culminating in his 2025 entry into their Hall of Fame and receiving the prestigious IFoLG Lifetime Achievement Award.  

Allan was a respected and sought-after leatherwork instructor. He authored articles for the Leather Crafters and Saddlers Journal, and was a six-time winner of the Tandy Leather Doodle Page competition. He conducted classes at the annual IFoLG convention and served for many years as president of the Buckeye Leathercrafters of Central Ohio, one of the oldest and most respected leather guilds in the USA. 

Although Allan has now fully retired from leather-crafting, his legacy is being passed onto the next generation. His cousin, Matthew Earl, has apprenticed with him for over four years and plans to take the products of Als Leather Craft in new directions while honoring the quality, traditions, and customer service that Allan established so many years ago.
